The Seattle Symphony Volunteers concluded the 2018–2019 season with an Appreciation Event to celebrate an outstanding season of service.

If you’ve ever attended a Seattle Symphony concert at Benaroya Hall, you just might recognize one of the many friendly faces ready to assist you to your seat or hand you the Encore concert program. You might even recognize volunteers sharing their love of music with children and families through education and community programs, or working tirelessly behind the scenes supporting administrative offices and providing transportation to guest artists.

Each season, Seattle Symphony Volunteers support our organization in numerous ways through their gift of time and energy, as well as their financial contributions to the Symphony. The incredible dedication of Symphony Volunteers plays a vital role in maintaining a world-class orchestra in Seattle and brings the joy of music to thousands of people in our community.

In June, we celebrated the volunteers’ tremendous contributions to the Seattle Symphony during the 2018–2019 season. 420 dedicated volunteers contributed over 10,200 hours of service just this season!

Not only have volunteers dedicated their time and energy to the Seattle Symphony community, they’ve collectively made a generous donation of $5,000 this season – including a $2,500 gift to the Annual Fund in honor of Music Director Ludovic Morlot and a gift of $2,500 to create a matching challenge for GiveBIG, our local giving day.

This year, Volunteer Board President Stephen Guild presented the first-ever Simon Woods Award for Exemplary Volunteer Service to Shirley Jenkins. Shirley’s compassion, integrity and outstanding service are just a few examples of the many Seattle Symphony values she embodies. Thank you to Shirley for exemplifying the highest degree of service in your daily work on behalf of the Seattle Symphony!
