Elisa Barston: Listening to the Inner Voice of the Orchestra

KING FM’s Dave Beck takes you backstage with Principal Second Violin Elisa Barston for a preview of her upcoming performances of music by Antonio Vivaldi and Astor Piazzolla.

From a family of distinguished music teachers, performing is the first love of Seattle Symphony Principal Second Violin Elisa Barston. She'll do plenty of performing in December and January when she solos with the Symphony in the demanding Four Seasons violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi. In fact, she’ll present versions by both Vivaldi and Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, December 28–29 and January 3–5 at Benaroya Hall.

On the Seattle Symphony Spotlight Podcast this week, Elisa speaks with KING FM's Dave Beck about her upcoming solo appearances and about the underappreciated role of the second violin section of the symphony orchestra.
