Seattle Symphony musicians take center stage in this decadent program of Baroque gems. Seattle Symphony Principal Oboe Mary Lynch draws out the rich, sophisticated tones of Bach’s Oboe Concerto in F major, and Principal Trumpet David Gordon and Associate Principal Trumpet Alexander White unite on stage for Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets.
Associate Conductor of the Seattle Symphony and winner of the Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance Award in 2014, 2017 and 2019, Lee Mills is internationally recognized as a passionate, multifaceted and energetic conductor. In his previous position as Resident Conductor of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, he led performances hailed as having a “sonority of unequalled liveliness and quality” (movimento.com), working alongside such artists as Simone Porter, Conrad Tao, Eliane Coelho and the Smetana Trio.
David Gordon, whose playing has been described as “spectacular” by the Chicago Tribune, is Principal Trumpet of the Seattle Symphony and Chicago's Grant Park Symphony Orchestra.
Alexander White returns to the Seattle Symphony as Third/Associate Principal Trumpet after being Principal Trumpet of the Malaysian Philharmonic for their 2014–2015 season.
Hailed as “the star of the evening” by The Philadelphia Inquirer and praised for her “sweet oboe sound” by The Washington Post, Mary Lynch has been Principal Oboist of the Seattle Symphony since 2014.
