Wayne Marshall Plays & Conducts Gershwin

While health officials manage the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community, the Seattle Symphony has made the difficult decision to cancel performances through May 31, 2020. All ticket holders will be notified.

Nothing encapsulates the high-class fashions and devil-may-care attitudes of the Jazz Age like George Gershwin’s music for the concert hall. Conducting these virtuoso showpieces from the piano, Wayne Marshall leads the orchestra through Gershwin’s affectionate, jazz-filled postcard from 1920s Paris.

Wayne Marshall

Conductor and Piano

Wayne’s relationship with music began at an early age. By the age of three, he had already familiarised himself with the piano, and only began to take formal lessons a few years later. Wayne’s musical forays led him to experiment in multiple genres, including church music and jazz, but quickly found his professional voice as an organ/piano recitalist.
