One of the most popular composers of all time takes center stage as the orchestra performs Beethoven’s bold and playful Symphony No. 1. Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason takes on Tchaikovsky’s beloved Rococo Variations. This short, no-intermission concert is an affordable way to begin your weekend.
Born in Saarbrücken, Germany, Ruth Reinhardt began studying violin at an early age and sang in the children's chorus of Saarländisches Staatstheater, Saarbrücken's opera company.
Only eighteen years old, Sheku Kanneh-Mason’s international career is developing very quickly and is the 2016 BBC Young Musician, a title he won with a stunning performance of the Shostakovich Cello Concerto at London’s Barbican Hall with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Sheku Kanneh-Mason's performance is generously underwritten by Grant and Dorrit Saviers through the Seattle Symphony's Guest Artists Circle.
