Seattle Chamber Music Society's 2018 Winter Festival is one of great contrasts with 6 concerts that survey nearly 1,000 years of music history. The opening weekend features an exploration of Robert Schumann's three piano trios as well as works from Biber to Shostakovich. Our second weekend highlights the important contributions of leading female composers of the past, Amy Beach, Fanny Mendelssohn, and Hildegard von Bingen. The second weekend also includes works by Brahms, Grieg, and a rare performance of Richard Strauss' Enoch Arden based on the epic narrative poem of Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Twenty renowned musicians create unique ensembles to bring his music to life.
There will be an open recital 1 hour before each concert with the exception of the family concert on Jan. 27th.
