Announcing First-Ever GRAMMY® for Seattle Symphony

CONGRATULATIONS to composer John Luther Adams for a GRAMMY® Award!

Become Ocean, commissioned and recorded by the Seattle Symphony, won the award today for the Best Contemporary Classical Composition. The award marks an unforgettable year that included a critically acclaimed performance of Become Ocean at Carnegie Hall in May. The recording, which was released on the Cantaloupe label, also received a nomination for the best engineered album. It was recorded in 5.1 surround sound by the Seattle Symphony’s recording engineer Dmitriy Lipay. The commission was generously underwritten by Lynn and Brian Grant.
