Music Director Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony have embarked on a two-year Beethoven cycle that will traverse all nine of the composer’s symphonies and five piano concertos over two seasons.
The project began on September 24, when Morlot conducted Beethoven Symphony No. 4, paired with Mahler’s Symphony No. 1.
The remainder of the 2015–2016 season will feature Symphony No. 3 on February 11, 13 and 14, and Symphony No. 7 on June 9, 10 and 11.
Pianists Alexander Melnikov (Piano Concerto No. 1), Yefim Bronfman (Piano Concerto No. 2) and Imogen Cooper (Piano Concerto No. 4) will perform throughout the rest of this season on the Masterworks series.
