Ryan Bede, baritone, made his Seattle Opera solo debut in May 2017 as the Second Priest in The Magic Flute, followed by Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly and Fiorello in The Barber Of Seville in the 2017-18 season. He will return as Moralés in Carmen in May 2019. Much beloved for his portrayal of Papageno (Magic Flute) and Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Ryan has performed both roles multiple times for different companies. His other roles include Schaunard, The Pirate King (Pirates of Penzance), Falke (Die Fledermaus), Albert (Werther), Captain Corcoran (H.M.S Pinafore), Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte), Prince Yamadori (Madama Butterfly), Ben (The Telephone) and Fiorello (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) performing with a variety of companies including Tacoma Opera, Opera Idaho, Coeur d’Alene Opera, Vespertine Opera, Bellevue City Opera, Skagit Opera, Vashon Opera and Opera New Jersey. Concert appearances with ensembles such as Spectrum Dance, Orchestra Seattle, Federal Way Symphony have included a variety of exciting work such as solos in Carmina Burana, Mozart, Duruflé and Fauré Requiems, Handel Messiah and Israel in Egypt and Bach Magnificat. He is a graduate of University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington and a two-time recipient of the Seattle Opera Guild Singers Development Award (Formerly known as the Training Grant Fund).
